Women's health is a growing industry, and therefore it's not surprising that Chinese Medicine has accompanied that growth. Due to it's
philosophical emphasis on balance, and nature, Chinese Medicine tries to find the most natural way to re-establish health. Lifestyle can often play a factor in contributing to illness. Taking the time to look at one's diet, get exercise and adequate rest are all aspects that are important. Consultations assist in asking questions regarding your life habits, so that we can identify the factors that may be detrimental to your health. Chinese medicine in combination with lifestyle changes gets the optimum results.
Chinese Medicine looks carefully at a women's menstrual cycle, for instance; the regularity and flow, are indicative of a healthy reproductive system, premenstrual tension, pain and clotting consequently point to underlying problems. Working together with acupuncture and herbal medicine we can address pain, and help to regulate your menstrual cycle. Regulating your cycle lays the foundation for a healthy pregnancy.
If you are planning a pregnancy it is advisable that you begin to address your health well in advance. Eating well, getting proper nutrition, exercise, rest and having a healthy pain free period are important foundations in preparing for a healthy pregnancy. Feel free to call and discuss.
Infertility & Chinese Medicine
There are many causes of infertility. Often women with a history of menstrual irregularities have trouble with conception. There may be a history of endometriosis, fibroids, polyps, painful periods, polycystic ovaries or frequent miscarriage. Sometimes there is no obvious cause.
Chinese Medicine is gaining popularity in assisting cases, particularly as an adjunct of support for women undergoing IVF. Whilst evidence in inconclusive as to whether acupuncture definitively influences pregnancy outcomes many women appreciate the care, support, and sense well-being that an acupuncture treatment can provide. For further discussion of outcomes regarding acupuncture and IVF please see (Cheong, Hung Yu Ng E, Ledger, Acupuncture and assisted conception, The Cochrane Collaboration 2008 ).
Acupuncture During Pregnancy
Chinese Medicine can support pregnancy in many ways. Often discomfort due to symptoms of nausea (due to morning sickness), bloating discomfort, and lower back pain can all be helped. Please call if you are unsure whether Chinese Medicine can assist.
